Beko

Prepare yourself to Beko’s worlds of smart solutions In the 1950s, the time when the industrialization had just started to develop in Turkey, Vehbi Koç the founder of the Koç Holding, was in search of a product that would provide foreign currency to Turkey. Considering the conditions of Turkey in those years, he had already made an association with a factory named Bejerano to make investment in sauce and canning factory by making use of Bejerano’s experience in this sector. As a result of this partnership, a company was founded in 1954; named Beko and was registered with the first two letters of Bejerano and Koç. However, the company could not begin operating because of the current situation in Turkey. In these years, a new opportunity emerged: Establishing dealership and sales of General Electric bulbs. The name of the canning factory was changed to Beko Ticaret A.S. and with this enterprise, Vehbi Koç initiated the first dealership system in Turkey and started to deliver Arçelik products to customers’ houses. In 1977, Beko Ticaret assigned the distribution rights of Arçelik to Atilim. Since 1983, Beko has been operating in Turkey’s white goods sector with its deep knowledge and experience. In the 1990s, Beko was designated as an export brand through the overseas activities of Koç Group. By the year 2000, as a result of the restructuring process of the Koç Holding Durable Goods Group, Beko dissociated from Beko Ticaret A.S. and started to operate under the umbrella of Arçelik A.S by uniting with the Arçelik brand. Being the first Turkish white good brand offered for sale in abroad markets, BEKO has always embraced the goal of “Being a World Brand”. Since the early 1990s, Beko has been the first choice of 280 million consumers in more than 100 countries by carrying on its Turkish market success in abroad. Today, Beko branded products are sold every two seconds in the World.
